Tucurinca is the rebirth of an ancestral weaving tradition from colombian northern coast. Inspired by the tropics, they have reinvented with new materials and innovative design a classic style of chair that represents the Caribbean and it’s laidback colorful spirit. Their furniture is fun and stylish and can be both for outdoors or indoors to spice up your favorite corner.

The Colombian people are faithful to the weaving tradition of the natives. Over the years, this ancestral knowledge has been present in rural areas where agricultural activities and armed conflict replaced many of their artisan gestures. Tucurinca is the rebirth of these techniques. We are the rescue of the traditional coastal chair; reinventing designs, recovering techniques and innovating materials. A whole range of furniture inspired by the Colombian tropics. The perfect mix of traditional techniques and international standards.

We are located in Santa Marta; a city with a population of 450,000 inhabitants where 27% are victims of the armed conflict, 35% live in poverty and 7% in extreme poverty. Our artisans are part of these figures. Most arrived without previous knowledge in weaving, however they grew up in an environment in which craftsmanship was always present, hence their innate talent. Tucurinca is an inclusive project that engages their talents by creating opportunities for those who are deprived of them, giving meaning to their manual skills and taking them to another level.

Our chairs are a true recognition of the ingenuity of the people. We work with innate talent; we are weavers who were merchants, blacksmiths who were masons and administrators who are now designers. Tucurinca is a tribute to our land, its colors and its people.
